INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE 2020
SECOND PLACE BAND WINNER!

The Jose Ramirez Band was originally selected to represent the capital of the United States (Washington D.C.) at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, January 2020.

Over 230 bands began the competition, 44 bands made it to the semi-finals, 8 bands in the finals. Proud to announce that we are the second place winners! The Jose Ramirez Band performed at the exclusive Orpheum Theater in downtown Memphis.

We competed against the best blues bands from all around the U.S.A. and the world. We are so honored for this prize and the opportunites before us. To our family, friends and fans, thank you for your support!!

The International Blues Challenge represents the worldwide search for those blues bands and solo/duo blues performers ready for the international stage, yet just needing that extra big break. Each affiliated Blues Society of The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and solo/duo musician(s) to represent its organization at the IBC. The IBC is judged by blues professionals from across the world who have years of experience in listening to, producing, and creating blues music.

NEW ALBUM IN THE WORKS

Jose is getting ready to get in the studio to cut his debut album produced by American blues and guitar slinger Anson Funderburgh. A very special selection of musicians have been chosen to record this album, including Grammy Award winner Jim Pugh, famous for his work with Robert Cray, BB King, Etta James, Van Morrison and John Lee Hooker to name a few. The Texas Horns will also be a part of the new album.

This famous horn section have worked with Blues legends such as Magic Sam, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Jimmie Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, Dr John and Aretha Franklin to name a few.

The rhythm section will be conformed by Nate Rowe on bass and Wes Starr on drums.

This promises to be a high intensity album that will reflect Jose’s soulful approach to the Blues. It will include mostly all new original material written by Jose and a few covers arranged in his own style.

EUROPEAN TOUR 2020

Jose is very happy and excited to announce that he will be touring in Europe for the third time. A 2020 European tour is already in the works for the months of August and September. Even though Jose has toured Europe in the past, this will be the first time touring with his American band. They are ready to cross the Atlantic Ocean with shows around Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium. To see recent photos from Jose's Winter trip to Europe, check out the bands Instagram.

AMERICAN TOUR 2020

After the grand success at The Blues Foundation 2020 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, the band is already booking their 2020 USA Summer Tour for the months of May, June and July. It will include dates in Washington D.C., Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and New York.

The final dates will be announced soon. In the meantime, keep an eye on the Tour page for all the latest venues and dates you can catch the band on the road.
